Pony Cake and Cupcakes!

So the kiddo's birthday party was yesterday at the local kid's museum. It's a sad little museum with not a lot of activities and lots of broken stuff, but if you're 5 or 6 or so it's awesome. If I win the lotto I'm going to have to give them some money.

The cake was the first shape cake I've made and it was a real learning experience. I felt like it came out kind of ugly but the kiddo saw it and said "oh gosh it's so beautiful!" so that made me feel better. Then when we were walking through the museum a few people were all "Ooh, that cake is so beautiful!" so I felt pretty awesome. I think I just feel a lot of pressure to make things as perfect as possible for my awesome kid.

I made chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting (the sprinkles aren't vegan but I figured plain chocolate would be too boring for 5 and 6 year olds).

And here are some red velvets with vanilla frosting with some leftover purple frosting (also vanilla) and some pink fondant hearts on top.

I've started a treats blog over at Meese Treats (named after one of my two favorite stuffed animals) so I can start getting the word out in the area if anyone would like to order pretty and allergen friendly baked goods!
