Apple Crisp Two Ways

Photobucket

The other day the husband and I accidentally saw a few minutes of The Chew. Before The Chew started I thought it'd be great to have Clinton and Carla - two of my favorite reality-type stars - on one show. Then I saw an episode where Daphne made a tofurky roast and they mocked her and she stood strong, and I was happy. And then I realized she'll eat anything, and I got over The Chew (and Mario's orange crocs) and vowed not to waste another minute of my life on it.

Anyway, the husband saw the crumble Clinton made and he wanted to make it. I substituted the regular flour with some gluten free flours (brown rice, chickpea, and tapioca) and he did the rest (woo!).

Here is some leftover cobbler the next day with some soy vanilla ice cream on top.

The next day I decided to try to make a healthier version so I chopped up an apple and put some cinnamon, nutmeg, cornstarch, and lemon juice with it. I put it into the smallest pyrex bowl I own and I topped it with 1 teaspoon of canola oil mixed with 2 tablespoons of gluten free oats and 1 tablespoon brown sugar. I baked it at 350ยบ for about 10 minutes and then I covered it with foil and baked it another 10 minutes. After it cooled a bit I topped it with some vanilla soy yogurt.

Both cobblers were super yummy, of course.

Haha! I got over the chew when she ate a hotdog. It was her first real hotdog ever. I was so mad!

I got all excited when you mentioned Carle, she was my fave, too, but the show doesn't sound that good after all.

Your apple crumbles look delicious and I have a bunch of apples to use up!

They look and sound great. I'm with you on the show. Although, Clinton will probably be my fav forever.
