YRR Scramble and Corn Chowder

Photobucket

One of my favorite (and therefore dirtiest) cookbooks is Yellow Rose Recipes by Joanna Vaught (I love it so much I bought a second copy for when I ruin my first copy). I'd tell everyone to buy a copy, but it's out of print, so if you don't have it, I'm sorry. (But I noticed that her page says publishers interested in reprinting it should contact her, so if you're a publisher or know one . . .)

I generally make the VWAV scramble but I love that Joanna has a recipe for the spice mix that allows you to have spice mix ready and waiting when the scramble urge attacks. When I make the YRR scramble, I generally add some lemon and nooch (a la the VWAV scramble). I didn't do that this time and it was still pretty good, but I've learned I really have to have lemon and nooch. And shredded carrot.

Here is the corn chowder from YRR which I love! I'm a New Englander, and a New Englander needs a chowder to love!

I love YRR, too! Have you tried her tamale pie? Word on the street is it's AMAZING!

Jackie - no, I still have to try that! One of the things I miss about eating gluten is the mustard crusted seitan!

I've never tried Joanna's corn chowder, but one of the many recipes I cannot stop making from the book is the Aloha bread. I usually inhale it in only one day.
