Drinks from my Vita-Mix

Photobucket

I neglected my Vita-Mix for awhile, but we're back together again! Or, we were until I ran out of frozen bananas . . .

Yesterday morning was soymilk, frozen bananas, almond extract, cacao nibs and goji berries (which I don't really like, but I bought 3 bags when they were on super sale).

This one was just the soymilk, frozen bananas, and almond extract.

And some juice, before:

Green smoothies. One of these was a Kriss Carr recipe featured in Yoga Journal that involved avocado, and I have learned that despite being an avocado lover, avocados do NOT belong in smoothies. Ick.

A cantaloupe/carrot/other juice (from the Vita-Mix recipe guide).

And one of my favorites - Ocean Spray cranberry blueberry juice with a banana and frozen blueberries.

Yet another reason to get a Vita-Mix - smoothies that are actually smooth! Those looked amazing!

All green smoothies should be consumed in pint glasses!

I really want that first one, it looks like a milkshake.

Thanks Rachel!

Sarah - totally! TheVeganMouse does it too but hers are more risque and therefore cooler :)

Katie - Exactly! Once I made one with peppermint extract and cacao nibs and it was amazing. Chocolate chip mint shake.

As much as I love avocados, I don't like them in smoothies (or puddings either). I can still taste them, no matter what anyone says! ;)

These smoothies all look so good!

Just adore our vitamix and use it daily! My faves are with the frozen bananas, it's like dessert!!

Yum! the first one with the cacao nibs and goji berries sounds amazing. I make smoothie concoction every morning in my Vitamix too. My fave is a frozen banana, handful of cashews, half a carrot, frozen strawberries and pineapple, and water. Delicious! Also, I've been on a kick adding fresh ginger lately.

Those look awesome! I've been making the same post-workout smoothie in mine, but I think I need to vary things a bit. Oh and...love the beer glasses :)

Au contraire, my lovely friend. Avocados DO belong in smoovies!

You take half an avocado, blend it with agave nectar, ice, and soy milk. It tastes like a vanilla shake. The trick is to make it super creamy by having your milk ratio larger than your avocado ratio.

So good. Mmmmm!

Your other smoovies look great, too!

Gina - Okay, that might work - I'll try it someday!

Kittee, congrats!! I frequently forget about using mine for juice but the recipes in the VM guide make some fabulous juice. And the smoothies clearly rock!

VT - If you'll be my everything else muse, it's a deal! :D

jd - and everyone - thanks!!! :))

They all look so yummy!

Did you like the canteloupe better in juice? (You are the one who doesn't like canteloupe, right?)
I actually like avocado in smoothies, but just a little bit (like 1/4 avocado or less) otherwise, it just tastes greasy. The wise move is to just eat more guac :)

Dawn, I am definitely the cantaloupe hater :D It was fine in the juice! And guacamole any day! :D
