Consolidating Blogs

Photobucket

Hi everyone! Sorry it's been so long. Did you know I have a second blog? If you did, then you should know I'm going to close that one soon and restrict my lackadaisical efforts to this one blog. If you didn't know, then, well, never mind!

Have I shown you the above picture before? It's the local farmer's market.

I'm also working on prettying this blog up. I tried to set my own background to a cute picture of the kiddo at Butternut Farm in Farmington, NH but blogger is giving me a hard time. Later, perhaps.

So the endless summer of disgustingly oppressive and migraine inducing heat seems to be almost over - today was in the mid 90s and tomorrow will be as well, but the 5 days after that are supposed to be in the 80s! I'd prefer to be home in Maine and have the 50s or 60s, but whatever - I'll take what I can get for now.

So I got a referral to see a neurologist about my migraines and I read a great book called The Migraine Brain which is so good! It reaffirms the pain of a migraine and the wacky triggers a person can have - I highly recommend reading it. I also saw a doctor who suggested that I have IBS! This never occurred to me - I was thinking I might have some other food allergies (I'm allergic to lactose, not that I care:) and then I was thinking I might have celiac and IBS never occurred to me, but it definitely makes sense. So I've been working on a diet that helps reduce/remove my food triggers for migraines and IBS. So far I'm fairly certain peanut butter is a migraine trigger as is white flour - still working on other triggers.

Along with that, I've been doing P90X! I'm on day 19, though I am one day behind right now because I went to sleep at 8pm a few nights ago because I was exhausted. The scale briefly dropped 2 pounds and went back up to my plateau again but I'm less concerned about that and more concerned about fitting into cute pants that don't fit anymore. It's weird, because I normally quit workouts pretty fast (I did one whole day of Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred and it KILLED ME) and get really sore, but I'm doing good so far!

So, food. Not too much interesting stuff - trying to rule out triggers and all, plus I'm not as into eating lately which would be awesome except I feel like I might not be getting as many calories as they recommend for P90X. I have days where I'm not in the mood for anything, and I'll take a bite of stuff and spit it out because I'm so not interested in it. Tonight's dinner was corn pasta (FAIL! The kiddo ate it which is amazing because she usually only likes regular white pasta, but it said to cook it 8-9 minutes and I cooked it 11 and it was still way too al dente) and then a few bites of lentil soup and a piece of sesame ezekiel toast. I'm still hungry but I don't know what to eat. Something I read about IBS is that you may find that you've been eating less of foods that irritate you without realizing it, and I'm wondering if that's partly why I've lowered my fruit and veggie intake as of late.

Okay, so here's a pic of some food I got from the local awesome Indian buffet, Bombay Bistro - they always have at least a few vegan things and the waitress is super nice.

And some cute squash! From Reilly Road Farmer's Market. I keep meaning to google them and find out what they are.

Did you buy any of the squash? I just bought some the other day, but don't know what I'll do with it yet :)

So how is P90X? I started Insanity last month and got injured about 1.5 weeks in so I just started again. I was planning on finishing Insanity and starting P90X.

Corn past IS gross. My favorite gluten free pastas are quinoa and brown rice.
