The Fat Vegan

http://www.drmcdougall.com/misc/2008nl/dec/fat.htm

My favorite part:

Vegans Are Ripe For Change

Being vegan says to me this is a person with outstanding character. Vegans are self-sacrificing and committed to making a difference. When everyone else is certain that it is our God-given right to mistreat and kill cows, pigs, chickens, and fishes in order to be properly nourished; a vegan would rather risk protein and calcium deficiency than to harm these beautiful creatures. Of course, this deep sacrifice ends with the discovery that plants provide all needed proteins, amino acids, essential fats, vitamins, and minerals (including calcium) without the inherent risks of flesh and dairy. Vegans are self-confident. They remain steadfast even when mom, dad, dietitian, and doctor are visibly angered by their religion of “veganism.” Vegans are industrious. To avoid eating animals in a world where beef, chicken, and cheese are mixed in with everything in the market and on the menu is a daily struggle. Reading labels, turning down invitations to dinner, and occasionally, going hungry, require more effort than the average person is willing to muster.

Obviously vegans are exceptional people. With this one simple shift to a starch-based diet the word “vegan” will become synonymous with terms like healthy, trim, active, young, strong, and energetic, and finally the most important adjective, earth-changing.

Go vegan or clog up your arteries with dead animal products and live a miserable life!! I am a vegan because my body is neither a graveyard for dead animal products nor a vehicle for dead animal skins. Plus I feel sexy knowing I don't have rotting flesh in me. Chewing meat is like chewing the insides of your cheeks.
Be a vegan, live and let live!!

Agreed Anonymous, I try not to bring it up. Being Vegan does NOT make you a better person at all. It is a personal choice and if we do anything for the "reward" of being "better than everyone else" then the very thing that we have done loses merit because of the that it was sought out for ingenuine reasons. Go Vegan because of your health, animal welfare, saving the planet and don't expect others to worship you or think you're special. In reality, it's the exact opposite: Expect to be questioned and harrassed. Indeed it is a choice that takes strength of mind, but all choices worth making do. When you start to belittle others for THEIR own choices, then you are just as ignorant ( as some can be toward YOUR own choices). Oh and Vegans are not "sacrificing" calcium and such and most of us don't go Vegan knowing we are "risking" serious health problems. There is no health risk if you are smart about it. The only risk lies in knowing you are sacrificing life as you once knew it ( but it's usually for the better : )
